The main function of this column base is to link the column to the concrete footing surface and thereby transmit the structure's stresses to the foundation. The CBSQ uses Strong Drive SDS Heavy Duty Connector screws (included), which allow for fast installation and reduced reveal, and provide a greater net section area of the column than bolts. I got these for my mom for her birthday. These are nice, good quality knives, sharp, and the knife block is nice. I wish it was a little heavier, but all the knives it came with fit inside nicely, and even fit some others we had bought too.
